The Federal Government is pumping $10 million dollars into tourism and infrastructure projects Eastern Ontario, as a way to help deal with the wake of COVID-19.
The minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, Filomena Tassi made the announcement yesterday.
The money comes from the tourism recovery through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund and the Tourism Relief Fund.
Thirty-seven groups in all will get a piece of the funding.
Locally, Perth gets just over $58,000 for an indigenous healing garden.
Smiths Falls gets $750,000 for their town square green space next to Town Halls and another $750,00 towards the downtown revitalization project. The Smiths Falls Heritage Museum gets just over $65,000 to enhance marketing products to attract visitors.
Tay Valley gets close to $80,000 to renovate and expand the Maberly Outdoor Sports Facility.
Carleton Place sees more than $500,000. Some of that has been spent on the downtown core project, while the rest will go to new play-structure equipment.
Beckwith gets $125,00 for ski trails, while Drummond/North Elmsley gets $75,000 for the Ferguson Falls Community Hall.
Montague sees just over $54,000 to increase playground safety at the Rosedale community Centre.
Some of the projects had been previously announced.
