Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Lake 88 listening area. It says strong winds are expected with the passage of a cold front today. It should hit through the morning and afternoon.
South or southwest winds with gusts up to 60 km/h ahead of the cold front are possible.
Then, west or northwest winds with gusts up to 80 km/h are expected along and behind the front.
As with any other windstorm, power outages are a possibility.
Damage to roof shingles and windows may occur, and high winds can toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
The cold front itself is expected to arrive in our area sometime this afternoon.
