Dozens gathered in Perth Tuesday evening in acknowledgement of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
It was Day 12 of Lanark County Interval House’s 16 Days of Activism.
A candlelight vigil was held at the memorial in the town next to the Crystal Palace.
Its purpose was to remember and honour those taken in the December 6, 1989 École Polytechnique Massacre, and all women in Lanark County and nationwide who have been taken from us too soon through violence, and to support those who are currently experiencing violence.
Lanark County Interval House organizes the gathering every year. In a post, they wrote. “This is a call to action to end violence against women everywhere. If you see violence, name it so together we can change it!”
Join us tomorrow as we continue our look at the Jury recommendations in the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into intimate partner violence (IPV). We speak with Interval House Director Erin Lee each week about a different recommendation, all designed to work together to end IPV.
