Perth Town Council was talking about the 2023 budget this week, the first for this new council.
They threw around some cost saving ideas, like closing the pool on Saturdays (that was rejected), or taking the $7,000 cost of Canada Day Fireworks off the books, and maybe looking for corporate sponsorship instead.
That idea passed by 4 votes to 3, but Councillor Barry Smith expects public backlash.
Of course, nothing is final.
There will be several more meetings before the final budget vote is taken early next year.
