Cathy Livingston, a longtime community volunteer and municipal councillor in Rideau Lakes, has died.
Livingston died “suddenly” at the hospital in Perth on Wednesday, according to her obituary, at the age of 67 – just days short of her birthday. She would have turned 68 on December 19.
In a social media post Thursday, the Township of Rideau Lakes confirmed the recently re-elected Councillor had died, and that the flags at its municipal office would be lowered to half-mast in response.
Township council and staff say they’re “deeply saddened” by the loss, and offered their “sincere condolences to her family and friends.”
“Councillor Livingston was passionate about her community and its heritage, and loved by many for her kindness,” officials wrote on Facebook.
“She will be greatly missed.”
She was a Councillor in Rideau Lakes’ Ward 1, an area that covers the former Bastard and South Burgess township, and had been for more than eight years.
