Hospitals across Ontario and the country continued to need help and President and CEO of the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Michael Cohen made that clear to Smiths Falls council Monday night.
He was virtually on hand to request the same funding amount received in prior years from council for 2023 – a tick over $174,000.
Cohen says there’s two different stories being written when comparing the progress of every-day life in the pandemic to what happens inside the walls of hospitals.
Cohen says that’s causing more burnout and only amplifying the issue at hand.
He also provided an update to the MRI room which will save patients drives into Ottawa or Kingston and help fill the overwhelming demand for an appointment time.
The money for the MRI will come through fundraising and grant programs.
Council later agreed to include their funding request in their budget items.
