The name of Canada’s first prime minister will soon be stripped from a major roadway in the nation’s capital.
An update from the National Capital Commission is due out today and is expected to focus on the next step in the process of renaming the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway.
Macdonald was one of the chief architects of Canada’s disgraced residential school system, and following the discovery of unmarked graves at a former school site in Kamloops, BC, a call for change was launched.
