The Montague Fire Department is reminding residents that to ensure that they show up when you call 9-1-1, you confirm with the dispatcher that you live in Lanark County.
They note that since the Village of Merrickville is located in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, when Montague residents with Merrickville addresses call for fire services, the calls are being sent to the Brockville.
It seems to be only affecting these addresses, but you can never be too safe. Let them know you’re in Lanark so the Montague Volunteer Fire Dept. can be dispatched.
If you don’t, a fire department will still be dispatched. It may just take longer for them to get to you.
