The Town of Smiths Falls is rescinding its mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for staff and council which went into place in November 2021.
There was unanimous agreement around the horseshoe during Monday’s committee of the whole meeting, as staff will bring forth the by-law at council next week to make it official.
Councillor Jay Brennan said it’s time to move forward.
Councillor Chris McGuire said this decision is long overdue, while mayor Shawn Pankow said he saw little relevance in maintaining the policy, especially with other governments rolling back their own mandates.
Councillor Dawn Quinn shared her thoughts.
Town staff recommended to council to keep the policy in place.
