A former occasional teacher briefly employed by the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) has been charged with a historic incident of sexual abuse involving a student.
Edward “Ted” Michael Oliver has had his teaching certificate revoked by the Ontario College of Teachers due to the charges.
In a letter sent out to parents Wednesday, the CDSBEO informed them that Oliver taught for 31 days as an occasional teacher, before assuming a contract position at St. John Catholic High School in Perth from February to June 2006. He had not been employed by the board since that time.
The letter doesn’t indicate when the alleged abuse took place.
CDSBEO Director of Education Laurie Corrigan asked parents to contact her, the school, or police if you have any questions or concerns.
If you or someone you know have been the victim of sexual violence please contact the Lanark County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. You can also seek support from Victim Services of Lanark County at 613-284-8380.
