Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County made their presentation to Smiths Falls council this week to explain their municipal grant application to the horseshoe.
The $30,000 ask for 2023 would go towards the We Are Kids after school program, or WAK, taking place now in a space on Main Street through a partnership with Carebridge Community Support. They were upstairs at the Youth Arena until last fall.
Fund Development Manager Angie Beaupre says they’re busier than ever.
She explains the bump in her ask.
Any organization requesting over $10,000 is required to make a presentation to council explaining the use of the intended funding.
