Daycare fees were at the forefront of last week’s committee of the whole meeting for Carleton Place council.
Staff brought forward a proposal for an increase to the current rates parents are seeing.
Town director Tracy Freill said inflationary pressures have required a rate hike of 5% starting this June for older children.
Daycare fees for those six and under remain frozen due to to federal assistance.
The increase was approved by the committee and will now go to the next council meeting for ratification.
