Wednesday marked World Water Day, a day to raise awareness and inspire action to tackle the water and sanitation crisis around the world.
Our local health unit is keeping their eyes on our own situation, especially with a possible flooding season right around the corner.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li says with the winter we’ve had they wanted to focus on well-health.
The health unit suggests now is a good time to get your well water tested.
Dr. Li says local governments work hard to make sure what comes out of our taps is safe to consume.
This includes source water protection, water treatment to kill pathogens and remove chemical contaminants, and maintenance of distribution systems such as water towers and pipes.
