The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority is gearing up for what could be a busy flood season.
The previous three years have seen an early thaw meaning minimal flood risk, but RVCA Manager of Engineering Services Brian Stratton says this year looks different especially around Ottawa.
The mid to upper part of the watershed, like Perth, Smiths Falls and Westport, look relatively safe he said.
If your house is a flood risk when the snow melts, there’s several steps you can take, and Stratton highlighted a few.
Being informed is also important, and Stratton suggest signing up to flood alert notifications the RVCA issue. Check out their website by clicking on this text block to sign up for those, and to find out if your home is at-risk of flooding.
