Lanark County is asking Mississippi Mills to foot the bill for a pedestrian sidewalk on the new Blakeney bridge.
Council unanimously agreed in December to move ahead with a $3.85 million two-way bridge with no walkway, scheduled to be built next year.
Now they’re saying a sidewalk will be added if Mississippi Mills will pony up about $380,000 of their own capital to add it.
That conversation will be had around their municipal horseshoe and if council decides against it, the bridge will proceed without a sidewalk as originally intended.
