Michael Cohen says they’ve stabilized their staffing concerns for now, but the overall issue in healthcare is far from over.
The President and CEO of the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital provided an update on the matter to Lake 88.
Cohen says they’re luckily not a sick call away from closing down a department like this previous summer, but they aren’t where they were staff-wise pre-pandemic years.
Cohen isn’t surprised temporary closures are continuing with the fragility of the healthcare system.
Both the Carleton Place and Almonte hospitals saw temporary closures in March due to staffing shortages.
