Hydro poles down in Mississippi Mills, after the powerful storms blew through
Carleton Place was one of six area municipalities that received funding from the province following last year’s wind storm.
The government announced $5.5 million in funding across 22 small municipalities to help their recovery efforts from the significant weather events seen in May and July earlier this week.
Mayor Toby Randell thinks the $150,000 will cover most of the associated costs with the cleanup of trees and stump removals stemming from the storm.
The town had asked for $175,000 in support and Mayor Randell isn’t too caught up in the fiscal help coming more than 9 months later.
Here are the other local communities get financial help for the cleanup.
Township of Drummond/North Elmsley – $74,663.00
Municipality of Mississippi Mills – $150,000.00
Town of Carleton Place – $150,000.00
Tay Valley Township – $19,102.11
Township of Beckwith – $110,342.85
Township of Lanark Highlands – $57,046.34
