A fire at the Lanark County Paramedic Service’s Almonte ambulance base has been contained and will not affect ambulance service in the region.
It started at about 7 am Friday morning. Staff detected smoke in the building and everyone got out safely. They also got the vehicles out and the fire was contained quickly.
No one was hurt and the cause is under investigation.
Some of the crew members will be housed and deployed out of the Carleton Place base, while other ambulances will stay mobile in Almonte.
“Thank you to our LCPS paramedics and our partners with the Mississippi Mills Fire Department for your quick action and support,” Almonte General Hospital & Carleton Place District Memorial Hospital President and CEO Mary Wilson Trider said in a statement.
