The Town of Smiths Falls is replacing the radio dispatching equipment, following a 2021 evalution by third party consultants which concluded the system was at its end of life.
Fire Chief Richard Chesebrough agrees the existing system has run its course.
The town received two bids for the work, and is set to award the contract to Intertalk Information Systems for a little over $401,000 with tax.
Mayor Shawn Pankow says they can’t cut corners on matters like these.
The new gear will align with the transition to Next Generation 9-1-1.
