Former MPP Randy Hillier is headed to trial in Ottawa dating back to nine charges laid related to the “Freedom Convoy” protests last year.
The news comes after a Superior Court Justice dismissed Hillier’s defence lawyer David Anber’s motion to change the venue due to what he called “widespread bias,” in the Ottawa area due to Hillier’s support of the protests.
Anber told the CBC he’d like to have seen the trial take place in Perth, Pembroke, Cornwall, Brockville, or Kingston.
Convoy organizers James Bauder and Pat King also had their change of venue bids dismissed in their court proceedings.
