After nearly 15 years of debate and studies, then more debates and more studies, the fate of the Andrewsville Bridge has been decided.
The nearly 100-year-old bridge will be replaced, to the pleasure of the Friends of Andrewsville Bridge group, who celebrated last week in chambers when the vote was pushed through.
Councillor Jeff Carroll says the indecision over the years led to the cost of the project climbing.
Prior to the vote, long-time councillor Richard Kidd shared his thoughts with the horseshoe.
The bridge is jointly owned by United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, and they share costs 50/50.
It’s now on UCLG to agree to replace the bridge and put up about $2 million of their own funds.
