Martin Whyte is keeping the fight alive for a commercial gun range in Drummond/North Elmsley.
After having council deny his rezoning application in April, Whyte took some time to consider his options and decided to file an appeal, which will go through the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Whyte met for a half an hour with Reeve Steve Fournier on Tuesday, spoke to Lake 88 Wednesday, and was asked about his reaction to the decision.
On the night council rejected the application, town staff came forth with a recommendation to defer a decision until Whyte could resubmit various documents.
Appeals tends to be a far more privatized process, but Whyte told Lake 88 he doesn’t think that’ll make a difference in terms of lowering the temperature of his fight.
The proposed range would be on the same Rideau Ferry Road property the OPP used to use on and off for target practice. A petition surpassing over 500 names was submitted to council opposing the range, and residents came out in droves to council chambers when the subject was up for discussion.
