Retired Smiths Falls Fire Chief Joel Fredrick Gorman passed away in his sleep on Friday, June 2nd at the age of 68.
The town announced his passing in a news release.
Gorman served on the fire department for over 35 years, ultimately working his way up to fire chief.
In a statement, Mayor Shawn Pankow says Chief Gorman’s dedication to the town and fire service was admirable and they’ll forever be grateful for his leadership.
Gorman leaves behind his wife Debbie, four children and six grandchildren.
Flags at all Town of Smiths Falls sites have been lowered to half mast until his graveside service on Wednesday.
