Carleton Place Council, in a surprising turnaround, has decided against offering a free concert series this summer, leaving Market Square without the anticipated musical entertainment.
Despite having previously approved the series a few weeks ago, the council had a change of heart. Community events coordinator Jessica Hansen cited time slot constraints as the reason for this abrupt change.
Initially, the motion to host the concert series had received only a narrow approval. However, in a unanimous vote, the council motioned to cancel the series entirely.
