During the latest committee of the whole meeting in Smiths Falls, a representative from the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation took the stage to underscore the crucial role their hospitals play in the local community.
Abby McIIquham, the representative, revealed that a substantial number of Smiths Falls residents regularly travel to Kingston for their medical needs. This highlights the necessity of accessible and comprehensive healthcare services within the town.
To sustain the provision of quality care and facilitate further expansion, McIIquham stated that the hospital requires $400 million. This amount is expected to be generated through hospital revenue and dedicated fundraising efforts over the course of the next ten years.
Although the foundation did not explicitly request a financial contribution from Smiths Falls council at this time, they hinted at the likelihood of making such a request in the future. This suggests that community support may become essential for the hospital’s continued growth and ability to meet the healthcare needs of Smiths Falls residents.
