The $2.5 million phase three of the town hall redevelopment is complete in Smiths Falls and on Monday, June 19, it hosted the first in-person council meeting since March 2020.
Featuring a new-look chambers, staff offices and more, the building has once again come back to life.
Mayor Shawn Pankow couldn’t be happier.
There were more than a few targeted opening dates prior to Monday which kept getting delayed for one reason or another.
Councillor Peter McKenna’s just glad they’ve crossed the hurdles.
Prior to the meeting, local historian Ron Stronski and accessibility committee chair Lucie Bingley joined Pankow on a ceremonial first elevator ride to the second floor chambers, with accessibility being a focal point throughout the redesign.
