A special sod turning took place Friday in Smiths Falls at the site of the new MRI Machine for the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital.
Mayor Shawn Pankow said he was impressed by the number of people who turned out to be a part of it.
The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation’s Kristine Fair (pictured above) says they’re well on their way t0 paying for it, but will need the community’s help.
Fair had an impressive update to share too. She says an anonymous donor has contributed $1 million towards the goal. She added that with a donation from the Perth Knights of Columbus they are now at just over $1.5 million, or about the 25% mark.
Hospital President and CEO Michael Cohan says the machine will serve a wide-swath.

MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes Steve Clark was one of the dignitaries in attendance. He agreed that the machine will make many lives easier.
