The province is initiating the winding down of its Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) programs today, reflecting the decreasing COVID-19 rates and rising vaccination rates. This step demonstrates a significant milestone, even though the pandemic is technically not officially over.
As part of the transition, Assessment Centres will also be closing their operations. However, high-risk individuals and prioritized communities will continue to have access to free rapid tests. Starting from July 4th, residents can obtain RATs at local Health Unit Offices while supplies last.
In the midst of this transition, it remains crucial to follow the recommended guidelines. If you experience symptoms of COVID-19, isolate yourself and wear a mask for 10 days after your symptoms improve. Stay home if you are feeling unwell, prioritize getting vaccinated, and maintain good hygiene practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This gradual winding down of the Rapid Antigen Test programs signifies a positive step forward in our collective effort to combat the pandemic. We’re reminded to stay vigilant, adhere to safety measures, and work together to overcome these challenging times.
