For the fourth time in two weeks and second time since Monday, the Emergency Department at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital will close.
The department closes tonight, July 6th, at 7 p.m. and will re-open at 7 a.m tomorrow, July 7th.
This temporary closure is due to a shortage of nursing staff. The rest of the hospital is still open and caring for patients.
The ER closed for two shifts during the June 23rd weekend and on Canada Day for the same reason.
“We know these closures are concerning for our community,” notes Mary Wilson Trider, President and CEO. “Unfortunately, we are dealing with multiple sick leaves. We are in contact with Ontario Health East Ministry staff to discuss potential solutions.”
Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Paramedics will take you to the nearest Emergency Department for care.
