A fire broke out at the Outlaws Motorcycle Club clubhouse in Brockville, at approximately 2 a.m. Monday morning.
The fire spread to several other residences in the area and many homes were evacuated.
Brockville Police say the blaze has been deemed suspicious and an investigation is underway to determine the cause.
The fire destroyed the Outlaws clubhouse and a neighbouring building and damaged several other buildings in the area.
The Ontario Provincial Police Biker Enforcer Unit, or BEU, are assisting in the investigation as the fire came a day after a shooting and assaults with edged weapons occurred between the Outlaws Motorcycle Club and the Loners Motorcycle Club. The Cornwall Police Service is leading the investigation into that incident.
“While 99 per cent of motorcycle enthusiasts are law abiding, outlaw motorcycle gang members believe that they are the one per cent that live outside the law. OMGs are criminal organizations whose activities cause harm and victimization in communities across Ontario. These profit-driven activities include fraud, drug trafficking, human trafficking, assaults, intimidation and murder,” the BEU said in a statement.
