Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li tells Lake 88 says being with people is in our nature.
Dr. Li says being without interaction can lead to other health issues, including a greater risk of heart disease, stroke and dementia.
She points to programs such as PEP in Perth and Smiths Falls as a way to increase social time.
PEP Therapeutic Centre Executive Director Suzanne Rintoul says family doctors and nurses can help recognize the signs of social isolation.
