The Ottawa Valley Search and Rescue Dog Association focuses on training dogs to be locate live people, human remains on water, and locating unmarked graves.
Team Leader Kim Cooper dives further into details about how they track and locate a body that’s underwater.
Cooper says the deepest find for their dogs was 218 feet below sea level.
Cooper says they look for certain qualities in a dog to consider it for training.
The training process takes about two years and an ideal dog would be medium-sized worker breed that can remain comfortable in all four seasons.
