Smiths Falls Police have named the suspect they detained and the charges they face following Sunday’s fire started at a home in town.
Police say 21-year-old Jeremy Warren is facing 20 charges including two counts of attempted murder for allegedly starting a fire to the 66 Main Street East home.
A stretch of Elmsley Street was closed for the better part of the day as both fire and police attended to the scene and conducted an investigation.
No injuries were sustained in the fire, which was quickly contained. Warren has a court date in Perth August 14th.
Warren currently stands charged with the following offences:
- Prowl by night x4
- Arson with disregard for human life x 2
- Mischief endangering life
- Possess incendiary material for the purpose of committing arson
- Utter threat to cause death x2
- Intimidation using violence x2
- Possess explosive substance while prohibited x2
- Mischief under $5000 x2
- Wear mask while committing indictable offence
- Possess incendiary explosive substance for the purpose of committing Indictable offence
- Attempt murder x2
