The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario is accusing the provincial government of violating bargaining rules.
The union says the government violated its bargaining obligations over a memo it released on July 28th.
They say the memo regarding elementary teachers conducting mandatory early reading screenings, violates good faith duties because that screening is a subject of central bargaining.
Both sides are currently in negotiations over a new collective
agreement. Locally, teachers at the Upper Canada District School Board and Catholic District Scholol Board of Eastern Ontario are involved.
