Lanark County is well known for its forets and they’ve just taken a step to make sure they’re well taken care of.
The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority will take on the task for the next five years.
The agreement is extension of one they had with the MVCA.
It includes things like keeping track of the forest’s resources, planning how to manage it for the next 20 years, figuring out what to do in the next five years, selling wood from the forest, and checking up on how the forest is doing.
MVCA knows a lot about the forest, has information about it on maps, knows how to take care of the water in the area, and has experience with making trails. It’s a natural fit.
