Leeds County and Grenville OPP have have partnered with the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville to bring “Project Lifesaver” to their jurisdiction.
They launch the effort tomorrow (Sept. 21) which protects and locates “at-risk” individuals prone to wandering.
Project Lifesaver uses technology to reduce search time for police and prevent harm to at-risk individuals.
At-risk individuals receive a unique frequency bracelet transmitter, and receivers at OPP Detachments help locate them.
Its open for anyone with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, dementia, or cognitive impairment, among others.
Regular visits from an Alzheimer Society worker are also included.
