The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital says their emergency departments at both sites are seeing an extremely high number of patients for respiratory illnesses, resulting in the number of patients needing a bed exceeding the number of beds available at both hospitals.
That means some patients may experience a longer wait at the ED as staff will continue to treat the sickest patients first.
Additionally, in-person visits to the Perth site of the medical/surgical unit have neen restricted due to an outbreak until further notice. They can be arranged however through the charge nurse in compassionate and palliative situations.
Masking is once again required in all areas of both sites.
