Parents want their kids to stay in school. We know, because we asked.
Many are understanding of the teachers’ plight, but also worry about their kids’ education.
The reaction comes as the unions representing Ontario elementary teachers, including those in the Upper Canada District School Board, and all teachers (secondary and elementary) in the province, the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario locally, voted overwhelmingly to strike if talks with the province go nowhere.
Those talks are expected to resume in the coming weeks.
We’ll be watching closely and let you know what happens. Strike action could leave many parents searching for child care or changing work schedules to take care of their kids.
