The Westport Food Bank is not exempt from the tough times high food prices have caused for many across the country.
Spokesperson Steve Curry says like every other community in our listening area, residents are dealing with the higher cost of everything.
He tells Lake 88 that residents are stepping up to help, even those who aren’t there year-round.
Usage for their food bank has gone up by 61% year over year from August to June.
The RCL Automotive Build a Mountain of Food will help. It stops in Westport Saturday from 1-4 at Kudrinko’s.
We’ll also be in Elgin in the morning at Gordanier Freshmart from 9 until noon. We’ll have more on their needs tomorrow.
