The Town of Perth is reminding pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers that we all need to work together to make walking safe in town, especially over the winter, slippery months.
Here are some tips provided by the town for pedestrian safety in winter months:
- Being aware of our surroundings is key – although hoods, hats and umbrellas are necessary in our climate, you must have good visibility.
- Sometimes the buttons at crosswalks stick in cold weather. Ensure the walk signal/lights are flashing before crossing.
- Always make eye contact with approaching drivers and cyclists before crossing the road. You can never be too cautioun
- Wear bright reflective clothing at night or during poor visibility. There are even reflective items for your pets.
- Pay attention and don’t text while walking.
Here’s to a safe winter for all!
