Former Almonte Councillor Garry Dalgity has passed away.
Daligty died on Boxing Day with family by his side.
Daligty served over 35 years as a municipal councillor which began when he was first elected to the Town of Almonte Council in 1975, a position he held until 1997.
He was then a member of Mississippi Mills Council following amalgamation from 1998-2003, and then served two more terms from 2006-2014.
Dalgity was also a dedicated volunteer with many local boards and organizations, including the Almonte General Hospital Board, United Way of Lanark County and two terms as Almonte Civitan Club president.
Flags at all municipal facilities have been lowered in his honour.
