The 2022-2026 Perth Town Council
Perth council defeated the mayor’s call to have the long-debated Halton Street property be designated for affordable housing.
Mayor Judy Brown made her points as simply as possible: The people of this town need help.
The decision came during a special Committee meeting to review the town’s strategic plan which followed the efforts from Community Housing Initiative Perth to build an affordable unit on Halton Street.

How extreme sad and disappointed in our current town council. I am really thinking that this town council are turning beautiful Perth into a NIMBY community. 😞
Looks like it will leave an opening for the TOP to sell off this property to developers and forget about their commitments to affordable housing.
A very short-sighted decision in my opinion!
Totally unacceptable.
That is so sad. Obviously this council is not in tune with today’s issues….if you are a senior you can’t find anywhere reasonable to live. I was born and raised in Perth and have lived here all my life but someday may just find I can’t afford to live in my beautiful but very expensive Perth. It will have to soon change it’s slogan to “Visit but you can’t afford to live here unless you have money in Perth”.
This Council has always pushed away new initiatives. Time to wipe the slate clean.
