Honouring a hero: There will be a Special Ceremony this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Captain A. Roy Brown Branch of the Legion in Carleton Place, to honour Gord Standing, a 102-year-old Second World War Veteran and resident of the town. The public is invited to attend. It’s an opportunity to thank Gord for his service. Thank you, sir!
Get social! Carebridge Community Support’s Supper Social series kicks off for 2024 tonight. Enjoy a roast beef dinner and show by Lanark County Revival at the Almonte Legion. The Supper Social runs from 5 to 7PM. It’s $15 per plate, payable at the door. Preregistration is required. Email vbova@carebridge.ca or call (613) 256-1031, extension 216 to do so.
Dance for a great cause: The Smiths Falls & District Crime Stoppers Annual Dance and Auction is coming up tomorrow at the Legion. Come dance the night away and support your Smiths Falls Crime Stoppers program!
Tickets are available at Impression Printing or Smith’s Shoes (in Smiths Falls), Rideau Candy Shoppe (in Perth) – or at the door.
Gather for a meal: The Lanark Highlands food pantry is having a complete Turkey supper with dessert tomorrow, January 27th. You can dine in or take out. It takes place at St Andrew’s United church at 115 Clarence St Lanark from 4:30pm-7pm. The cost o get in is a non-perishable food item.

Local Sports: Support our teams!
The Smiths Falls Bears are on the road tonight in CCHL play. They’re in Brockville to face the Braves at 7:30. The Carleton Place Canadians play host to the Renfrew Wolves at 7:45.
In the EOJHL, the Smiths Falls Jr. Bears are home to the Arnprior Packers.
