The health unit wants us to be on guard against Group A Strep and are spreading word about how to prevent spreading the infection, as they have seen a rise in the province and in our listening area.
Manager of Clinical Services Jennifer Adams says they way it moves from person to person is very familiar.
Adams says people who are susceptible to infections are at higher risk, like the very young or those who are fighting long-term illnesses, and there are others.
Strep throat is the most common result. The health unit also notes though that not everyone who cntracts the infection experiences symptoms.
