February is Heart Month and among the messages is: learn the lifesaving skill CPR.
Dean Dimonte is the founder of Premergency, which is a training centre in Arnprior. He says everyone should learn the skill.
He says they’ve trained large and small groups, with ages ranging from 7 to 80. They make it an event.
Dimonte says taking the course can cause some anxiety, as people wonder if they’ll be able to carry out the task in an emergency.
There are a number of ways you can get trained in CPR. You can reach out to Premergency at their website (https://premergency.com), contact your local St. John Ambulance, the health unit or ask your family doctor.
You can listen to the complete interview with Dimonte below.
