Linden Housing was at Lanark County’s Community Services Committee making their pitch for the development of a 4.5 acre lot behind Lanark Lodge for co-operative housing.
They’re asking the county to list the land transfer of the lot for $1, with the hopes they win the RFP and could build a co-op they feel addresses a housing gap in the region.
Councilors asked how much these units would be rented out for. Realtor Consultant Lindsay Blair said they used a financing formula that provided a wide array of rates.
Blair also said up to 15% of the units would be “compatible,” with those on an ODSP allowance. The co-op would be built largely through government grants and community fundraising, which has already eclipsed $32,000.
The county requested a staff report to look into the matter further.
