Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning.
The government forecaster says rain is expected to slowly transition to snow through this evening. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm are expected. Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour are also a possibility.
The changeover to snow will likely occur earliest over the Haliburton Highlands.
Snow will taper off Thursday. With temperatures being very close to the freezing mark, the snow may be very heavy and wet in nature. Local utility outages are possible as a result.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
