Game 1 of The Barkley Cup is set for tonight in Casselman as the Vikings host the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians.
This is the first trip to the Finals for the Jr. Canadians since 2017 when the team lost to the Vikings in five games, one of Casselman’s seven titles since 2011.
Carleton Place Head Coach Cole Burton is well aware of who they’re up against.
Thr Jr. Canadians are a young squad that cruised to the divisional final before edging out the Richmond Royals in Game 7 overtime.
myFM asked Burton when he first thought this was a team that could put a run like this together.
He said it might have clicked sometime around December that they had championship potential and are now four wins away from achieving their goal.
Puck drop is 7:30 tonight with Game 2 set for Saturday night, also at 7:30, in Carleton Place.
