A growing trend among school boards in Ontario is running at a deficit. Executive Superintendent of Business Services Jeremy Hobbs says that’s something they’re continuing to track.
$320 million was allocated towards staff salaries in benefits in 2023, almost 76% of the $423 million in operating expenses. Hobbs says that’s not out of the ordinary when you’re staff and student led and focused as they are at the UCDSB.
