Lanark County council’s decided to hold onto the property at 99 Christie Lake Road for potential future development of Lanark Lodge.
It’s a blow to the Linden Co-Op housing initiative, who had come forth last month asking to purchase the land in order to build up to 80 affordable co-housing units.
CAO Kurt Greaves outlined findings from the 2013 Master Plan on the property.
Councillor and affordable housing advocate Rob Rainer wasn’t pleased with how the process shook-out.
Neither staff nor council promised the land would be put out for tender at any point in time, it was just Linden’s hope and proposal that they would decide to do so in lieu of hanging onto the property.
Council did direct staff to look at other sites for potential affordable housing units.
